KOPOU

Fashion as Resistance

To understand fashion, one must learn about the culture and history. Kopou is a documentary born from a place of profound frustration—an urgent, defiant response to the experience of being an "outsider" within my own country. I created this film to give a voice to the narratives of Northeast Indians who utilize fashion as a radical form of resistance and a visceral celebration of heritage while living away from home.

I believe every garment is a script, and every fabric carries a whisper waiting to be heard, Kopou is my attempt to listen. Kopou argues that personal style is most potent when rooted in this cultural self-awareness, where the clothes we wear become both a shield and a storyteller, ensuring our traditions evolve without being erased
